FAQs

  • I’ve never done any aerial, can I sign up for these classes?

Yes! Aerial arts are wonderful for building strength, flexibility, and stamina, even if you have no prior training. Come check out our Intro and Conditioning classes. You might be surprised how strong you actually are!

What should I wear to class?

We recommend breathable workout clothes that are tight-fitting, not baggy, because many of our classes - whether aerial, floor, or yoga - include inversions. Wearing tight-fitting clothes also prevents them from being caught by the apparatus. If you are taking an aerial class, we recommend dance or yoga bottoms that cover your legs to protect your skin.

For aerial students, we ask that you remove all jewelry and do not attend class if you have nail art that include any 3D designs or charms as these can be unsafe to wear while you are on an apparatus and may also damage the equipment. Please leave valuable jewelry at home as we cannot be responsible for the loss of personal belongings in the studio.

Shoes are not necessary for class and should be left in the cubby area.

What is the minimum age for adult classes? For Kids classes?

Adult classes are open for individuals 18 and above. Youth classes are open to children between 6 to 18. Classes for kids under 6 are available through our partner Head over Heels Gymnastics.

Can I bring my own silks?

We are working on logistics to set this up—we’d love for you to express yourself with your own silks! Get our latest updates by signing up for our newsletter here.

What level aerial class should I sign up for?

A description of each class can be found on our Aerial page. If you want to sign up for a class that is beyond the Intro level, you’ll need to meet the prerequisites outlined in the class descriptions. An instructor can approve you for class, or you can submit a video of yourself meeting the prerequisites to info@thehive-sf.com.

What happens if I am late?

For Aerial classes: You may be admitted to class 10-15 minutes after a class has started, depending on instructor approval. There will be absolutely no admission into a class if you are more than 15 minutes late, no exceptions.

For Yoga classes: You may be admitted to class up to 5 minutes after a class has started. There will be no admission into a class if you are more than 5 minutes late.
