Our Story
Welcome to The Hive San Francisco!
Our story started in a backyard, during the depths of the pandemic. Like so many people, we were missing all the things we used to do and people we used to see. So we did what so many others did - we created a “bubble”. Ours was ostensibly an aerial silks training bubble, where we would get together in one of our backyards, and Thai would kick our asses for an hour attempting to keep us in shape.
We discovered a few things in these training sessions: 1) it was hard to train consistently during the pandemic environment; 2) we missed our community and tended to chit chat a lot, and 3) we all loved a good lychee martini - post training, of course. You can imagine how much training actually happened after that last discovery.
During this time, we also discovered that we were all looking to do something a bit more meaningful with our careers. Something more community-oriented, more fulfilling, and just more fun. We went through a bunch of ideas, but at the end of the day, the thing that brought us together was our love of aerial arts and fitness. We were all missing, not just a place to train, but also the community that we had at the studio where we met.
And so it was over a round of our favorite drink that the idea of The Hive San Francisco was born. We wanted to create a space where everyone is welcome, a place for anyone to experience the joy and benefits of aerial arts, yoga, and related fitness activities. Whether you’re an aerial enthusiast, a yoga practitioner, a recreational fitness nut, or just someone who wants to get stronger doing something new and fun, The Hive SF has something for you. So come join us, find your inner unicorn, and unleash your creative and fitness potential.
Who Are We?
Who are these people who thought that trying to open a fitness studio at the tail end of a pandemic was a good idea? Well, we’re a bit of everything - aerialists, yoga lovers, fitness enthusiasts, mothers, professional leaders, creatives, adults of a “certain” age (but forever young at heart), and more. We are living examples of the idea that getting strong, building a yoga practice, and even running away with the circus are all possible for anyone and everyone at any age and body type. If you see us in the studio, please come and say hi. We’re excited to meet you and have you join our community!
