All Apparatus C-Shaping (Rope/Silks/Straps)

Friday, February 27, 4:30 - 6:30 pm All Apparatus C-Shaping

This in-depth journey into waist rolling, including floorial, hipkey roll-ups, sling rotational drills, catch/release c-shaping drills (rope), and c-shaping on 1 and 2-arms on straps/fabric will investigate the many ways to effectively progress through c-shaping skills while reducing injury risk (to the rib cartilage, intercostals, low back, and more). The use of multiple apparatus to progress through the c-shaping skill tree will be covered, as well as how to program and periodize the various drills in a training cycle. Students will walk away with a variety of strength, mobility, and c-shape specific drills.

Prerequisites: No discomfort in spine with c-shaping, safe inversion, comfort in a hip hang on sling, ideally exposure to front/back balance on rope/straps/fabric, and to any c-shaping pathways.

Aerial Straps Master Class

Friday, February 27, 6:45-8:45 pm

This in-depth journey into straps (and how straps are fun and are really the training wheels of vertical apparatus) will explore a wide breadth of techniques, and provide progressions for training straps at three levels. Participants will investigate dynamic theory of spinning, swinging, and c-shaping through spotted and self-spotted progressions. Students will not be conditioned to death. They WILL learn a series of progressive conditioning and skill drills to walk away with to make gains for weeks after the intensive.

Prerequisites: level dependent - see below:

  • Beginner: safe 2-arm inversion, ability to long-arm hang, no current injuries,

some exposure to training any kind of spin or swinging.

  • Intermediate: 2-arm straight arm inversions, meathook hold, experience training

back balance/support flag and/or reverse meathook, some experience training 2 or 1-arm flare pathways, and some experience with 2-arm swings, exposure to any c-shaping pathway.

  • Advanced: 1-arm meathook hold, 1-arm flag hold, experience with 1-arm flare pathways, comfort with at least some 2-arm & 1-arm swinging pathways, comfort in support position.
