Intro to Tippy Hoop

This workshop is a little more than an introduction to a hoop rigged on a horizontal axis.

 We will cover some of the fundamental tipping movements that define the apparatus, try some more challenging feats and play with fun sequences at the end.

 Recommend wearing high socks to protect the shins and ankles.

Pre-requisites: For Lyra Level 1+ students. Should be able to do 3 pull ups, 1 straddle invert from the ground and hold a candlestick for 5 seconds.

Bio: 

Darielle “Diva Dari” Williams is a Trinidadian aerialist, choreographer, actor, and stuntwoman. Williams is recognized for her solo aerialist work in Beyonce's Formation Tour, after a 2-year performance run with Las Vegas' Le Rêve - The Dream. She has also notably performed with SZA, Travis Scott, Missy Elliot, JLo and others. Williams has choreographed for The Cleaning Lady, a Netflix Tudum event and at the MGM Grand. She is proud to have created her own apparatus - The Aerial Drum.

A workshop dedicated to strengthening the core techniques in aerial pole, learning how to creatively approach connecting skills, and working on presses & flags.

Pre-requisites: experience with vertical aerials (rope or straps / silks) and / or with pole. Comfort with one arm hangs.

Bio: 

Ron is an elite, multidisciplinary circus artist who seamlessly blends a background in dance with high-level acrobatic technique. A 2019 graduate of Montreal’s prestigious École nationale de cirque, he specializes in flying pole, Chinese pole, and aerial arts. Ron quickly made his mark in the industry, landing principal character roles in multiple world-class Cirque du Soleil productions, including Amaluna, Amora, and ’Twas The Night Before. Known for his fluid, dynamic movements, Ron recently traveled the globe performing as a featured aerialist on pop icon Katy Perry’s concert world tour.

Dynamic Mat Pilates at Hub Gateway Pavilion, Fort Mason Center

In collaboration with the San Francisco Aerial Arts Festival, this complimentary class is the perfect way to wake up your body, build strength and mobility, and get your workout in before enjoying a day of world-class aerial performances at the festival.

This workshop will be held at the Hub Gateway Pavilion at Fort Mason Center (not at The Hive SF).

Please bring your own yoga mat.

Bio: 

Thalita is a former Portuguese and literature teacher who started her journey in movement four years ago when she took her first aerial silks class. She's been passionate about it since then. However, it was her introduction to Pilates, specifically mat Pilates, that became the pivotal foundation for the skills she can now perform in the air. Pilates has been her guiding light, transforming her life and improving her overall health and well-being. Because she had a transformative path in her life through Pilates, she wants to share it with anyone looking to enhance their strength and potential by creating a supportive and inclusive environment.

She understands the challenge of being a complete beginner and loves to motivate people who want to improve their physical well-being.
